Health Update: Meningitis Awareness and Guidance

We are aware of media reports regarding a meningitis outbreak in Kent. We want to reassure staff and students that, according to Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), there are no reported cases of meningitis in North Wales at this time.

Following guidance from the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) and MEDR, we are sharing this information to ensure our college community remains informed and vigilant.

What you should do:

  • Check Vaccinations: We encourage students and parents to ensure all childhood vaccinations are up to date.

This can be done at the GP surgery where the person / child is registered by requesting a copy of their vaccination record if they are unsure about their status, or if they need to catch up with other recommended vaccinations.

  • Know the Signs: Familiarise yourself with the symptoms of meningitis and sepsis.

This info can also be found on the BCUHB update page linked below.

  • Stay Informed: For the most accurate, up-to-date information and a full list of symptoms, please visit the official BCUHB update page.

The safety of our college community is our priority. We will continue to monitor advice from Public Health Wales and provide updates if the local situation changes.
