Small Changes, Big Impact

Making a difference doesn’t mean overhauling your whole life – it’s the small changes that count. You can help us reduce our carbon footprint with a few simple habits:
Turn off lights when you leave a room and make the most of natural light. Unplug your devices when you’re not using them – even in standby mode, they still drain power. Adjust the heating to 18°C, and don’t forget to turn it off when no one’s around. Print only when necessary, and always use both sides of the paper. It might not seem like much, but when we all pitch in, the impact adds up!

Cambria’s Carbon Cutting Initiatives

Coleg Cambria is leading the way in reducing carbon emissions, and we’re making big changes across our sites. We’re committed to using green energy by purchasing electricity from renewable sources and installing solar panels to generate clean energy. We’re also working hard to improve energy efficiency by upgrading our equipment and insulating our buildings to reduce energy waste, especially during holidays. We’re all about adopting sustainable solutions, which is why we’re encouraging the use of electric vehicles (EVs) for college business.

Waste Less, Recycle More

We’re serious about reducing waste, and you can help make it happen. Make sure to use the recycling bins around the sites – it’s an easy way to make sure we’re doing our part to keep waste out of incinerators. And here’s a fun one: when you shred paper, it’s used as bedding for the animals at Northop! So, your recycling efforts are helping us take care of our furry friends.

Travel Sustainably

Want to travel more sustainably? We’ve got you covered! There are cycle shelters, lockers and showers at our sites. If you drive an electric vehicle, you can take advantage of our EV charging points. And don’t forget about car sharing – our Liftshare scheme helps reduce single-occupancy trips, cutting down on emissions.

Protect Our Biodiversity

Love nature and wildlife? You can help us protect biodiversity at Coleg Cambria. We’ve planted over 400 trees to create habitats for local wildlife and improve air quality. Plus, we’re protecting wildflower areas and creating spaces like ponds and hedgerows to support pollinators and other creatures. Whether it’s through tree planting, helping us conserve wildflower areas, or building homes for wildlife, there are loads of ways to get involved!

Go Paperless and Save Time

Ditch the paper and go digital! We’re pushing for more paperless work at Coleg Cambria, and it’s easier than ever. Use Google Drive and Google Classroom to store and share your work, submit assignments, and collaborate with your classmates. Not only does it help the environment, but it’s also faster and more efficient – and less paper means fewer lost notes!
